Locate a Contractor using our online search tools. We recommend using a Fujitsu Elite Contractor because they've had a premier level of training and installation experience. Only Elite Contractors can offer a 12-Year Warranty on select Fujitsu General systems. Also, ask around. Asking friends and neighbors if they have used an HVAC contractor in the past is a good way to learn if they had a good or bad experience with a local contractor. It is also a good idea to contact several HVAC contractors.
Check their track record. Find out how long the contractor has been in business for and if they have an established track record. A good track record means that they have made their customers happy in the past.
Request references. Given that the contractor has a good track record, they should be able to provide you with references. Call their references and don't be afraid to ask questions. Fujitsu General is not liable for any installations that are performed incorrectly.
Contact your local Better Business Bureau. Ask them if anyone has filed a complaint about the contractor in question.
Home Evaluation. The contractors should visit your home in order to properly calculate the correct size and capacity heat pump you need. Contractors should use a load calculation in order to do this.
Ask questions. Don't be afraid to ask contractors if they are insured, licensed, how long the installation will take, how your home may be disturbed during installation, etc. An informed customer makes a great customer when expectations are managed properly.
Compare estimates. Having more than one contractor visit your home will allow you to compare the estimates of the contractors. If one contractor gives you an estimate that is drastically different from the others, don't be afraid to question them about it. They may have noticed something another contractor missed.
Check for proper license. Make sure that your contractor is properly licensed. Some states require a license, while others do not.
Get a permit if needed. Call your town clerk to see if you need a permit for the work you are getting done.
Review Service and Maintenance Contracts that are available through your chosen contractor. These contracts keep your Fujitsu General system in top working order. As you know, systems can break down at the most inconvenient times. Poorly maintained systems also cost much more to operate because they consume more energy than a system that is regularly maintained.
